The garden is taking off! Look at these little squash babies! Can't wait to have all the fresh produce!
Wheat is looking good for the most part here for Lively H, but here is some frost damage in one of the wheat fields! Not much damage done thankfully but after two cold spells under freezing, it did have an impact! Only a couple heads here and there in the earlier growing stages! Happy Friday!
Lamb watching, a couple of the ewes are getting close to lambing! Those ewes are Cotton and Betty! Now it's just a waiting game and making bets on who will go first! I'm thinking cotton, so probably Betty... Isn't that how it goes? Spent this morning working cows at uncle Johan and aunt Janes.
One of my favorite things to do by the way. Getting them vaccinated! Protected from flys-pour on and fly tags Number tags (if needed) Castrated weaned males with burdizzo Here around Lively H we normally pick one week to do all the cows and it has to be a rainy week because if it's dry everyone is in the fields... Question: Have you ever ran in the mud>? Yeah doesn't work out well when sorting or pushing cattle in pen towards chute but no boots were lost today nor anyone face planted.. and even better no cows were missed... (although some TRIED to escape) Happy Wednesday On to more tomorrow ! Spending the afternoon on a bucket...
Driving more T-post, fixing fence, and probably making a few more bruises and cuts. Wouldn't trade it for the world though, now the sheep that keep getting out maybe... Just kidding.. Uncovered garden early this morning! Everything looks good!
How did your plants hold up? Did you cover them? Sunday Spent..
Planting soybeans before the storms this afternoon. Dark skies ahead but on to the next field, we won't stop until rain gets here! First soybeans planted this year for Lively H was in this field on April 16, here's how they look today!
Before long, this field will be green! Back to marshmallow farming here at Lively H!
With our #McHale baler Cutting, Raking, and Baling! Happy Friday |
